Journal Entry 5
A staff meeting is a good way to keep staff up to date on events, parent meetings, finical issues, education, laws and more. A staff meeting doesn't have to be boring and unpleasant. A staff meeting should be something that staff look forward too. The atmosphere should be positive, cozy, and inviting. Add some soft pillows, soft chairs, have some finger foods, maybe even door prizes. Talking with or even making a suggestion box will help you with a staff meeting.
When guiding a staff meeting you want to be professional. It would be safe to do research on any topic you choose to discuss. Have hand outs, so staff can read over later. Having a professional tone and dressing is very important. What you say and what you wear shows professionalism.
Having a staff meeting once a month gives you as the director the chance to talk over issues that involve the whole center. Having a staff meeting also allows staff to express things that they have observed.
